Above Drenthe a so -called ‘strawberry moon’ could be seen last night.
The full moon was low on the horizon and was orange -red in color. That is because the moonlight has to go through a thicker layer of the atmosphere.
The name does not have to do with the red color, but with the time of year: many strawberries are harvested in June.
For example, a full moon in September is called Korenmaan.
The next time a red strawberry moon can be seen in 2043.
