The municipality of Westerveld wants to catch at least 450,000 euros for the Veldwachte in DARP. But the highest bidder is not automatically the owner of the former school on the outskirts of the village.
From today you can offer on the Veldwikke. The sale is via a point system. The amount that a bidder has for the school is part of that. But a good plan with a lower bid has just as good a chance.
The municipality also wants the environment (DARP and the municipality of Westerveld) to benefit from the plans, for example through employment that the new interpretation entails. Westerveld also wants the building to be made more sustainable and that building plans improve the street scene.
Primary school De Veldwikke closed its doors in 2021 due to a too low number of students. Since then, the municipality rents out the building and site with outbuilding. There is currently a daycare center.
The school building was built in the early 1980s on the edge of the village, right against the forest. Due to its location in a water extraction area, it is not possible to build homes at the location, according to the municipality.
