Figures that parliamentary member Annick Lambrecht (Vooruit) requested that only 9 of the 36 train stations in West Flanders are completely autonomously accessible to people with disabilities. That means that 27 stations – or three in four – do not meet the basic requirements for accessibility.

The accessibility of a station is assessed on various criteria: for example, there must be lifts or slopes to each platform, platforms must be 76 centimeters high, and there must be guidelines and adapted ticket machines with assistants’ button.
