The FIGC has already done all the checks. No violated rule: the future coach of the national team will play a senior advisor of the Giallorossi president

There is no incompatibility between the role of Senior Advisor of the Rome President Dan Friedkin and the role of CT of the national team. Translated: Claudio Ranieri can become Luciano Spalletti’s successor on the blue bench. In this regard, the Football Federation has already made all the appropriate legal checks and has no doubts that the now former Rome technician can be appointed new technical commissioner of the national team. Without violating, of course, no federal rule. Not even Article 40 of the Technical Sector Regulation which in paragraph 4 establishes: “The coaches responsible for the national teams of the FIGC and their deputy during the same sporting season, cannot be registered or, regardless of the membership, to carry out activities for companies, not even with different tasks, unless the economic contract has not been resolved consensually”.

No membership

The new role of Ranieri, or that of consultant of the Giallorossi president (as the club himself has made it known), does not provide for the membership for Roma as automatic. Look at Zlatan Ibrahimovic: in 2024-25 it was the Advisor of Redbird, the owner of Milan, but in the organigram of the Rossoneri society he had no role. Ranieri as Zlatan, therefore, will become a consultant outside Rome, indeed of his president, and will make the national team coach keeping the same transparency he has had in a career that has few equal among his colleagues. In this regard, in via Allegri they do not have uncertainties. And now, after investigating the case, they have no legal doubts.
