She is a national player and has been loyal to her club for eight years. Now Sophia Kleinhern wants to break new ground.
Sophia Kleinhern laced her shoes for Eintracht Frankfurt for eight years. Now the national player wants to change sports and pulls a “contractually fixed exit clause”. The club announced this on Whit Monday on its website. The employment relationship, which would have run until June 30, 2026, is thus dissolved.
Wherever she changes, Kleinherne initially left open. In recent weeks, speculation had been speculated through a departure to VfL Wolfsburg. In a message from the association, Kleinhern said: “It is time to leave the comfort zone, accept new challenges and expand my own horizon. Even if I break new ground, a piece of my heart always stays here.”
Kleinherne switched from FSV Gütersloh to the 1st FFC Frankfurt in 2017. After the club was integrated into Eintracht, she ran a total of 190 times for the Frankfurt women. Niko Arnautis, head coach and sporting director, says about the departure: “I was allowed to accompany Sophia as a coach on her way for eight years. In all of these years, Sophia has matured more and more and has taken responsibility for the team, most recently she was also in the team council. We wish her all the best for her further way.”
So far, it has been 34 missions for the German national team. The chances are good that national coach Christian Wück nominates them for the European Championship in Switzerland (July 2 to 27).
