The Navy is currently in contact with the ship that is part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. On board is, among other things, the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Earlier in the night a group of boats approached the activist ship, but they seemed to leave after a while. The Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz says he has ordered his armed forces to prevent the Madleen from actually going to Gaza.
The Navy demands a change of course from the activist ship because the forbidden area is approaching, says the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
‘Madleen surrounded by drones’
According to news channel Al Jazeera, Gaza Freedom Flotilla reports that the Madleen is surrounded by drones, who “spray the ship with a white, paint -like substance.” According to a message from the organization on Instagram, the communication lines of the activist ship have also been disrupted and disturbing sounds are broadcast on the radio.
