A remarkable end of the shoulder in the world of punk rock: CJ Ramone, once a bassist of the legendary Ramones, is currently playing with the Supergroup me First and the Gimme Gimmes. And not only for a short guest performance at Rock am Ring and Rock in the Park, but as part of their current European tour 2025. A small sensation for fans of both camps.
CJ Ramone-with a bourgeois name Christopher Joseph Ward-joined the band in 1989 as the successor to Dee Dee Ramone when she had already risen to punk icons. He became the youngest member of the band that had existed since 1974 and had his live debut with the Ramones in September 1989 on a television appearance.
He shaped the late work of the Ramones and was an integral part of the group until the dissolution in 1996. Then he started a solo career, released several albums and always remained loyal to the punk – musically and ideologically.

CJ Ramone and Me First And The Gimme Gimmes at Rock am Ring
It is exciting for your fans and that of CJ Ramone for shows like Rock am Ring at me First and the Gimme Gimmes: The cover band is an all-star project with members of NOFX, LAGWAGON, FOO Fighters and others. Their humorous, fast punk versions of pop classics have long been cult and a mood maker at every festival. The fact that CJ Ramone is now supporting the band shows that a cross-generational shoulder is possible between old school punk and the 90s revival scene.
If you want to experience this live, you still have some opportunities in Europe. The tour is currently underway, and CJ Ramone is still involved in some European matters. Including the Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria and the Greenfield Festival in Interlaken (Switzerland). There is also still a Germany date: On June 18, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes will play in the Hamburg market hall.
