After the clear defeat against the Czech Republic, there was now a victory against Turkey. The basketball players gradually take part in the preliminary round in Hamburg for the European Championship.
The German basketball players get going almost two weeks before the start of the European Championship. The team of national coach Lisa Thomaidis clearly defeated Turkey in the evening in Heidelberg with 81:65 (40:39). The best throwers were Frieda Bühner (27 points) and Emily Bessoir (13).
A strong third quarter was the decisive factor in Heidelberg. The game was completely open until half -time, after which the team of the German Basketball Federation (DBB) increased noticeably. The 21 -year -old Bühner was the outstanding player and contributed twelve rebounds in addition to her 27 points.

However, the team is still far from running in the best line -up. The three USA legionnaires Leonie Fiebich, Luisa Geiselsöder and Nyara Sabally only go to the team shortly before the tournament begins because the season in the WNBA is currently running. Captain Marie Gülich (cruciate ligament rupture) will be missing due to injury, WNBA-Star Satou Sabally does not take part.
The three preliminary round games rise in Hamburg before going to the KO-round for the Thomaidis team in Piraeus. In the group, duels are waiting with Sweden (June 19), Spain (June 20) and Great Britain (June 22). Germany wants to master the third successful summer in a row after the European Championship 2023 and the 2024 Olympic Games. The World Cup takes place in Berlin in 2026.
