Success coach Gian Piero Gasperini leaves Atalanta Bergamo after nine years and takes over the Italian first division club as Rome.

The commitment announced the former club of ex-world champion Mats Hummels, who ended his career, on Friday.

The trainer signed a contract until 2028 and succeeds Claudio Ranieri (73), who was adopted together with Hummels at the end of May.

Ranieri and the owners are convinced of Gasperini, wrote the Roma, who had finished fifth in Serie A last season. The 67-year-old is “characterized by innovative tactics, work culture and an extraordinary ability to develop players”.

Gasperini had taken over Atalanta in 2016 and developed into an association of international format. In 2024 he won the Europa League with the northern Italian club through a final success against Bayer Leverkusen.
