Carlos Alcaraz has moved into the finals of the French Open again. Semi -final opponent Lorenzo Musetti had to give up after a strong start.
The Italian Musetti ended the game on Friday (June 6th, 2025) in Paris at 6: 4, 6: 7 (3: 7), 0: 6, 0: 2. Alcaraz meets the number one on the tennis world rankings either on Zverev-Owinger Novak Djokovic (Serbia) or Jannik Sinner (Italy).
“It is never nice to win a match in this way”, Alcaraz said on the court in an interview after the encounter. “Lorenzo played such a great clay court season. I hope that he will quickly get well again.”
Musetti with two re-breaks
The favorite defending champion Alcaraz had in the first set against Musetti, number seven in the world, above all a problem with the first surcharge, only got 41 percent of the experiments in the field – a very weak quota. Nevertheless, Musetti only had his first two break balls at 5: 4 and used the first to win the set.
Although Alcaraz also had breakballs in the first round, his game still seemed round. That didn’t really change in the second set. Although he managed two breaks, he lost his service games immediately afterwards, including 5: 4.

The Tiebreak was then a clear matter, after 3: 0 and 5: 1-in leadership Alcaraz won 7: 3 at the end.
Alcaraz dominates third sets
It was the initial spark for a performance explosion. Suddenly it went at Alcaraz, similar to the quarter -finals, where he had dominated Tommy Paul, especially in the first two sets (6: 0, 6: 1). At the same time, Musetti seemed physically increasingly struck, apparently no longer moving as fluid and explosive as before because of thigh problems.
The consequences: Alcaraz got the third set in a quick pass with 6: 0 and shortly afterwards Musetti gave up after 2:25 hours with a disappointed face.
