Arnold Schwarzenegger not only stood on stage as an organizer and speaker at the “Austrian World Summit” – but also as a musician for the first time. Together with the seven-member Berlin band The BossHoss around Alec Völkel and Sascha Vollmer, the 77-year-old presented the climate protection single “i’ll be back”. The title, inspired by his iconic “Terminator” quote, was published on May 30th, now he celebrated his live debut in Vienna.
A song with message
“I’ll be back,” said Schwarzenegger this time not as a threat, but as a promise for climate protection. The band and the actor performed at the ninth edition of the international climate conference, which Schwarzenegger organizes annually. All income would go to Schwarzenegger’s “Climate Initiative”, as Alec Völkel announced the “Bild”. The song should be a wake -up call – just like his speech.
Before he devoted himself to the actual topic in the speech, Schwarzenegger commented on the domestic situation in Austria: “It is really something special if you come here and you can see a new chancellor year after year. This is incredible here in Austria.” At the same time, however, he praised the new Chancellor Christian Stocker and his long -time friend Tony Blair: “You are one of my environmental heroes.”

Then he became clear: “Stop whining, that doesn’t work at all.” And further: “We need heroes, not whine. We need solutions, don’t complain.” His message: become active – everyone can contribute. “You don’t have to be a president to change the world.”
Already as a Republican governor of California from 2003 to 2011, Schwarzenegger campaigned for environmental protection, despite a lack of support from Washington, as he tells. “Nobody was interested in climate protection,” he recalled the time under the Bush government, emphasizing the importance of local and local politics.
