World champion Max Verstappen against George Russell at the Formula 1 race in Barcelona continues to heat the minds. A former F1 driver sharply criticized the Dutch for his behavior and thinks that the ten-second penalty against the Red Bull driver was far too mild.
If it is after ex-formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer, the direct attack by Max Verstappen against George Russell was not an accident or oversight at the Grand Prix of Spain, but pure intent to the four-time world champion.
In his analysis for “F1 TV”, Palmer referred to the telemetry data from the moments shortly before the collision. “They show that Verstappen clearly goes off the gas. He takes his foot completely off the pedal, but when he sees George on the outside, he pushes back on the pedal to underpin his point and to initiate contact,” said Palmer.
“You should never use your car as a weapon”
When approaching to the curve, it can be clearly seen that Verstappen made no institutions at all. “This looks like a frustrated, bad and stink acid driver in the cockpit,” said the former driver, who shows no understanding at all.
“You should never use your car as a weapon to hit other cars. This is not Mario Kart. This is pretty much the worst thing you can do in a Formula 1 car. Max didn’t deny it because it doesn’t look like he could defend himself in this case,” said Palmer.
Palmer: Verstappen-Crash will remain a topic of conversation
There is no question for the ex-pilot: Verstappen was very lucky that he only received a ten-second penalty for his ram.
“The big question is: was it intentional? It looks like this for me. And in this case a ten-second penalty is not enough. I think there could have been a very serious punishment for Verstappen. And I think that a lot will be talked about at the next driver meeting in Canada,” Palmer believes in an aftermath.
