Needed but very awkward: the cycle and footpath along the Dobbe is closed for almost four months

It is one of the most important traffic arteries for cyclists and walkers in the center: the Grote Dobbad. This is the road along the Dobbeplas next to the market. Due to work, the path will close for almost four months. If you take the detour route, then you are not on the road much longer. It is awkward.

Work on the Dobbe Island has been going on for a long time. In that area there will be a brand new park with, among other things, a hiking trail in the water and play equipment. The municipality is also tackling the pedestrian and cycle paths around the lake.

Take a detour

The large Dobbad runs between Vlamingstraat and the Markt. From Monday 2 June 7 a.m. to Wednesday 24 September 5 p.m. you are not allowed to walk, cycle or come up with your scooter, electric wheelchair or any vehicle. The road is closed for both driving directions.

Yellow plates

This means that you have to detour via the Dorpsstraat. You can also make the paving via the Nicolaaspark and the Marseillepad. The extra travel time is a few minutes and the detour is indicated with yellow plates.
