Hertha BSC once again uses a loan to the 3rd league. Midfield talent Lukas Michelbrink from the second team of the Berliners will follow Energie Cottbus for the coming season. FCE competitor Alemannia Aachen is strengthening with defender Jeremias Lorch (29) from relegated Sandhausen.
“We have had good experiences with borrowing in the 3rd league in recent years,” said sports director Benjamin Weber. “For Lukas, there is now a special opportunity to stay nearby and still gain important experiences in the 3rd league.” In the past season, the young players Tim Hoffmann (20), for example, had plenty of playing time at Erzgebirge Aue, Julian Eitschberger (21) at Rot-Weiss Essen and Gustav Christensen (20) at FC Ingolstadt (until 2026). The breakthrough in Hertha’s professional squad had succeeded after a third division loan to Waldhof Mannheim a few years ago Marten Winkler (22).
“We are pleased that Hertha BSC is also convinced that the step to us is a good way for both clubs and especially for Lukas himself to gain experience and develop in professional football,” Cottbus from Caderplaner Maniyel Nergiz was heard. “Many thanks to Hertha BSC and the consultant that you have supported our idea to bring him to us.
Aachen fetches Lorch: “Knows the 3rd league inside and by heart”
In the 3rd league, Jeremias Lorch will also be found again in the coming season. After the relegation of SV Sandhausen, the defensive player moves to Alemannia Aachen. The former second division professional was used at SVS and previously with Viktoria Köln, Wehen Wiesbaden and Sonnenhof Großaspach over 200 times in the 3rd division.
“With Jere we piloted a player to the Tivoli who knows the 3rd league inside and by heart,” said Aachen’s technical director Erdal Celik. “It was important for us that it can be used flexibly on the defensive: it can play both in central defense and in defensive midfield and is also very strong – that should also benefit us on the offensive.”
