Political and economic uncertainties slow down the upswing
Despite the improvement compared to the previous month of May, the HDE warned to restraint. “However, another and continuous lightening of the consumer mood is necessary for a noticeable recovery of private consumption. It is still well left behind its previous year’s level,” said the association. “However, existing uncertainties in the overall economic development and the geopolitically tense situation still inhibit a noticeable brightening of the consumer mood.”
In June, the questioners surveyed showed up: inside with regard to the development of the overall economy and their own income relationships more optimistic than a month ago. “The expectations of the financial basis for private consumption have increased significantly since the beginning of the year,” emphasized the students: inside. “Now consumers only have to gain confidence in the macroeconomic environment in order to noticeably expand their consumption.”
The German consumers: inside want to spend more, but also save more
At the same time, the HDE determined a further increase in the purchase tendency. The “easy trend of falling consumer withdrawal” of consumers: Inside, “continues in June,” said the association. In view of the numerous political and economic uncertainties, the respondents planned to increase their savings efforts. “Additional income should still not flow completely into consumption,” said the industry organization.
