Queen Máxima has received fierce criticism at the desk of Shownieuws because she has never even been to the toppers with her husband. “They could have been there for a long time.”
Queen Silvia van Zweden has made her appearance in a program in the leading role, to surprise a drag artist who has been imitating her for fifty years. Our royal family would never do something like that, presenter Airen Mylene notes at the desk of Shownieuws. “That is not conceivable, isn’t it, with Princess Beatrix or Máxima?”
Máx with the Toppers
Patty Brard thinks that’s a shame. “It would be a fantastic idea if our royal couple once …”, she starts.
Colleague Evert Santegoeds breaks into: “Yes, the Oranges have a different PR adviser than the Swedish royal family. They don’t have that loose here.”
Patty: “Yes, but for example to the Toppers. They could have been there once?”
Pain and effort
Evert agrees. “Yes, they could have been there for a long time of course, but last year it already took a lot of pain and effort to have Burgemeester Halsema of Amsterdam once experienced that whole Toppers-Festijn in the nineteenth edition.”
He continues: “Willem-Alexander and Máxima sometimes go to concerts, but that is more U2 and that kind of acts, I believe. The toppers have always let them pass by.”
‘Really sin’
Patty doesn’t understand that. She is angry with Máxima. “I think that’s a shame.”
Evert: “Yes, while it is good for their image.”
Máxima did recently went to the Ladies of Soul. “Yes, but she is partly friends again, with Trijntje at least, so that is different,” says Evert.
He concludes: “I think that family had been very nice at the Toppers once.”
