Jeffrey Herlings won the Grand Prix of Germany on Sunday. It meant his 108th GP victory for the motocross rider from Oploo and that is a tightening of a record that he himself has. Herlings had to wait a long time for this victory because he was injured at the end of last season. “It was beautiful,” says the five -time world champion. “I am very happy with it.”
In Teutschental, the first moto of the MXGP was before the Belgian Lucas Coenen. The young motocross rider ran away like a spear, so Jeffrey Herlings had to settle for second place.
Also in the second race, Coenen Rap was gone, but Herlings went full in the chase and eventually got hold of it in a bend. As a result, he won and both finished KTM drivers on an equal number of points. Herlings was named the winner because not Coenen but he brought in the second moto.
108 victories in the GP
For Herlings, the profit meant an improvement of his own record with 108 victories in the GP. The last time Herlings won was in Arnhem last September. Then he was injured in the last game of the season in Valkenswaard, missing the first three GPs of the new season and only made his return at the beginning of April.
“It was a long time ago and I had to wait a long time for this victory,” says Herlings that tenth state in the general classification. “But we have another one and now on to the next game.”
