Willem II trainer Kristof Aelbrecht calls the relegation of his club ‘painful’. The coach finds it difficult to explain how his Club has lost Telstar. “It is difficult to put the finger on the sore spot. I found ourselves militant in the first half. I would do the players too short if I didn’t say they have tried everything. But the fact is that things were not going well,” says Aelbrecht.
According to the trainer, the relegation of the club does not fall out of the blue. “It has been going on since January. A number of things have happened within the club that we have to look back critically.” Field storming during the play-offs against FC Dordrecht have had no impact on the focus of the players according to the coach. Aelbrecht is uncertain about his own future as head coach at the club. “As an assistant trainer, I was asked to help the club and that’s how I still see it. I haven’t had any conversations about my future as a trainer,” he says.
