In the final of the Champions League, PSG prevailed more than clearly. Ex-coach Thomas Tuchel did not expect that.
It was a clear result that brought Paris Saint-Germain onto the pitch in the final of the Champions League on Saturday evening. The club defeated 5-0 from the French capital Inter Milan and secured the first title in the premier class of the club’s history.
However, it was not the first final participation for Paris. The club was already in the final in 2020, but lost 0-1 against FC Bayern. Back then on the sidelines: Thomas Tuchel.
The current English national coach was a guest at the Formula 1 race in Barcelona, Spanish on Sunday. At the Sky microphone, he commented on the success of his ex-club-and was quite surprised. Tuchel revealed the game together with his coaching colleagues of the English national team.
“It was an extremely clear result. You couldn’t expect that after the semi-finals,” said the 51-year-old. “After Inter had granted itself so strongly against Barcelona, I thought that they may be able to keep it again, but PSG was the best team since winter and deservedly won,” said Tuchel’s tight analysis. Inter had prevailed against the Catalans in two spectacular semi -finals, which ended 3: 3 and 4: 3.
After visiting Formula 1, it will be serious for Tuchel even in the coming week. On Saturday he meets the English national team in the World Cup qualification on Andorra. Three days later there is a friendly against Senegal. Tuchel would like to use the game to continue preparing his team for the title mission at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
