Meyer Burger is applying for bankruptcy for German companies
The German subsidiaries of Meyer Burger Technology AG, Meyer Burger (Industries) GmbH and Meyer Burger (Germany) GmbH, have each applied for the opening of insolvency proceedings.
As part of the ongoing renovation negotiations, the locations were intensively wrestled. So far, these efforts have been unsuccessful and are now to be continued as part of the proceedings together with a preliminary insolvency administrator to be appointed. The subsidiary Meyer Burger (Switzerland) AG with around 60 employees in Thun should remain. The Meyer Burger (Americas) Ltd., which all employees released on May 29, 2025, is also said to remain as a company.
331 employees are employed in the Solar cell production Meyer Burger Industries in Thalheim (city of Bitterfeld-Wolfen). At Meyer Burger Germany in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, 289 employees are employed in mechanical engineering and technology development.
Against the background of the continued financing talks for the restructuring, Meyer Burger is requesting an extension of the deadline for submitting business figures 2024. The previous deadline is running on May 31, 2025.
