According to Laura Kits from XR, the NOS should not hide behind “fake neutrality.” By that she means that supporters and opponents are being heard and their answers written down, but that it is not precisely investigating exactly how things really work. “Not pretending that the truth is somewhere in the middle, we want it to be really checked,” says Kits.
Cross -pollination between action groups
During the ‘occupation’ of the Mediapark, as the protesters call the event, campaigners climb the NOS building and hang a banner on it and a huge Palestinian flag. “There is of course cross -pollination between the two action groups,” says Laura Kits of XR.
Hilversum for Palestine agrees with XR and therefore joins the demonstration at the Mediapark. Spokesperson Cian is also that the NOS is fairer and words such as genocide do not avoid reporting in Gaza.
Journalism chooses own words
The NOS did not come out to talk to the demonstrators, but says it has done so in the past. In a written statement, editor -in -chief Giselle of Cann says that everyone has the right to express and demonstrate criticism, but that journalism chooses their own words and does not go under pressure from the actions of certain groups, companies or governments.
