First kilometers aboard the medium -sized SUV in the top of the range: 4×4 traction, two electric engines and 73 kWh battery for 490 km of autonomy. And the price?
The Peugeot offer expands with the arrival of E-3008 and E-5008 in the 325 Dual Motor variants. These are, respectively, 100% electric C and D-SUV capable of bringing all models on these models, up to now only front-wheel drive. At the hybrid variants (Mild with the 1.2 three cylinders Turbo petrol and plug-in with the 1.6) so far the electrics have been joined by 213 and 231 HP, respectively with 73 and 97 kWh batteries and with autonomies of 529 and 700 km (for the E-3008). However, 4×4 variants with a sporty tone were missing. And here they are served, complete with a guarantee of 8 years and/or 160,000 km. In the text we will mainly talk about the smallest SUV of the two, but what is said is valid in almost equal measure on the 7 -seater variant. Prices are not yet revealed.
Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor: how it is done
–
Aesthetically and technologically speaking, the Peugeot E-3008 325 Dual Motor does not differ at all from what has already been seen on the less powerful battery twins. Gritty and muscular design outside, hi-tech inside. If anything, they vary, in addition to the data relating to the technique, which we will speak shortly, some numbers relating to the trunk, sacrificed of about forty liters to make room for the rear electric motor. The Peugeot E-3008 325 Dual Motor, with the rear sofa in an advanced position has 544 liters to store objects behind the second row. They become 470 bringing the seat back all back and become 1,619 liters in 2 seater configuration. The E-5008 325 Dual Motor sees the space for luggage ranging from 294 liters in 7-seater configuration to 2,178 liters in 2 seater configuration, passing through the 862 liters with the third row lowered. In addition, of course, to be more than 25 cm, larger than 1 and higher than 5, with more traditional SUV lines and less from SUV coupe as is instead for the E-3008. As standard on the rich GT there are, among other things, the Hill Assist Descent Control, the panoramic roof, the use of the Alcantara for the interiors, the 360 ° camera, the 20 “rims, the seats with massage function and level 2 adas (with excluded functions).
Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor: how is the technique
–
At the 213 HP front engine of maximum variant of the 73 kWh battery, the Peugeot E-3008 325 Dual Motor adds-as the name suggests-a second electric motor from another 112 HP at the rear. In this way, not only are the overall 325 hp and 509 Nm of torque, but all -wheel drive is also obtained. In this way the car takes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 second seconds and enjoys a declared 490 km declared autonomy. Impossible to have the dual motor variant with 97 kWh battery, so you are in front of a choice. Setting the standard for a moment, customers are located in front of a crossroads between the long range (700 km with a complete recharge, front -wheel drive and 231 HP) and the dual motor, full, more powerful but with less autonomy. In any case, the Peugeot E-3008 AWD is loaded from 20 to 80% in half an hour.
Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor: how is it done, the driving modes
–
There are four driving modes: in Normal there are two driving wheels and, on request by pressing the accelerator pedal all the way, the car activates the 4×4. In this case, the power is limited to 312 HP and 450 Nm of torque. The other mode that temporarily excludes the rear axle is the echo: 213 HP and 343 Nm data solely from the front axis, but if you opt for kick down with the accelerator pedal, also in this case the rear axle intervenes. The car instead behaves from permanent all -wheel drive in Sport mode (with power shared at 60% to the front and 40% at the rear) and specifically Driving Mode called 4WD, with a balanced 50/50.
Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor: how it goes
–
As soon as you sit on board you notice how enveloping the session is. Curated and technological interiors for the top of the range, complete with everything already standard. The driving position, with the classic small Peugeot steering wheel and the backrest to embrace the driver, invites you to drive in a cheerful way. The structure of the same philosophy, which saw changes like the suspension department: everything was stiffened and calibrated in a specific way to make the 325 dual motor the diamond tip of the E-3008 offensive, placing it not only as the only 3008 all-wheel drive, but also raising it with a more sporty variant of the C-SUV. By sinking the foot on the accelerator in the various modes, you enter into connection with the car and the differences are perceived. In Eco you significantly have less power available: it serves, in fact, to limit energy consumption and it is sacrosanct is so. In Normal we perceive the entry on the scene of the rear axle to the need, while forcing a little the rhythm in sport, that 60/40 balance of which we spoke before, with a slightly understood trend date, dates – force – from the numbers on the paper of the two electric motors, with the front one decidedly more powerful than the rear one, emerges. For the rest, Rollio and Meccheggio are well limited by a deliberately more rigid structure and a more sustained calibration – and this is also perceptible – of the shock absorbers.
Peugeot E-3008 Dual Motor: strengths and weaknesses
–
Here are the strengths and weaknesses found on the Peugeot e-3008 325 Dual Motor during the international test between Switzerland, France and Germany.
- Driving dynamics: The accelerator’s response varies to changing the driving mode, the stiffening of the suspensions leads to a more marked sportiness and greater safety, the addition of the electric motor to the rear is an advantage in terms of traction. Although it is an SUV of a far from small size, the car is driven quite well
- Flying: nice to challenge (as long as they make sacrifices with the driving position and/or with the visibility of the digital dashboard) and rather direct in sport. A good connection is created between driver and car between the curves, thanks to a sincere directionality
- Interior: on the 325 Dual Motor GT there is practically everything. The passenger compartment is well cared for and modern, the materials used convince
- Bagliaio opening: the button to automatically open the luggage compartment is in an uncomfortable and hidden position
- Visibility Instrumentation: problem known and extended to many Peugeot cars is the never perfect view of the digital dashboard, given by the deliberately very low position of the steering wheel. The highest must fight with this driving setting
- Battery: a pity not to be able to combine the dual motor with the 97 kWh battery.
