Zion Williamson has been playing for the New Orleans Pelicans since 2019. Now the NBA star is faced with severe allegations.
An NBA star is the focus of serious allegations: Zion Williamson, Power Forward of New Orleans Pelicans, is faced with a lawsuit for rape. As the AFP news agency reports, the lawsuit in Los Angeles was submitted by a woman whose name was not made public.
The plaintiff said she had been in a relationship with the basketball professional between 2018 and 2023. In the lawsuit, allegations of bodily harm, sexual coercion, domestic violence, burglary, stalking and the deprivation of freedom are raised. Williamson is said to have raped the woman twice in an apartment in Beverly Hills in 2020. In addition, there are further incidents according to the application – also in Louisiana and Texas.
Williamson, who was selected by the Pelicans in 2019 as number one in the NBA draft in 2019, rejected the allegations about his lawyers. In a letter that AFP has, they described the allegations as “categorically wrong and ruthless”.
The lawyers emphasized that their client took the allegations “extremely seriously”, but would “decide”. It was not a permanent relationship, but a loose and mutual connection.
Williamson’s lawyers also explained that the applicant had no concerns during or immediately after the relationship. “It only started to challenge millions of dollars after the end,” it said. The lawyers were confident that the procedure would bring the truth to light and to fully rehabilitate their clients.
