The Hannover 96 U23 has just relegated from the 3rd league. For this, a second club from the region could soon move into professional football.

The TSV Havelse has developed a decent starting position in the promotion play-off for the 3rd league. At the northeast champion Lokomotive Leipzig, the Lower Saxony fought a 1-1 (0-0) on Wednesday evening in front of 10,080 spectators-the equalization only fell in added time.

Lok had to do without his best goalkeeper Stefan Maderer (16 goals of the season) at short notice. Nevertheless, the hosts caught the better start. Havelse initially remained reserved, but came to a top chance through Robin Müller (20th): his shot banged on the post. After that, the Leipzigers had more of the game, but could not make any yield out of it.

Even after the change, Leipzig was determined by the game. But both a free kick in the 30th minute and another attempt by Noel Eichinger (51st) remained harmless. Havelse was not impressed by this and relied on a compact defensive. Then the guests struck: Marko Ilic put Havelse in the lead in the 89th minute with a dream goal. But shortly afterwards Leipzig’s Dorian Cevis scored (90.+1) from the penalty point to compensate.

The Hanover police are expecting a quiet game for the second leg on Sunday (1.30 p.m./Magenta Sport) in the Wilhelm Langrehr Stadium-despite the sporting explosiveness. Nevertheless, there will be a larger police force around the stadium and in the entire Garbsen city area. Among other things, the police monitor the stadium environment with video cameras and uses a drone. Personal data should not be saved.

Visitors and residents have to prepare for restrictions: On matchday, Hannoversche Straße between Garbsener Landstraße and Am Hasenberge will be completely closed from 9 a.m. All junctions in this section-Schäferdamm, in the Milan, Langer Acker and Max-Planck-Straße-are also affected. The area is only accessible on foot and only accessible with a valid entry ticket. The police control access. The closures remain until after the end of the game.
