The Würzburg Baskets complete the play-off semi-final of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). The Lower Franconia won the decisive game at the Löwen Braunschweig on Thursday with 97:88 (77:77, 45:27) and prevailed 3-2 in the best-of-five series.
In the semifinals, Würzburg has to deal with the main round of Ulm, who had eliminated the former Dominator Alba Berlin (3-0) in the quarter -finals. The second semi -finals contest defending champion Bayern Munich and the MLP Academics Heidelberg.
After a balanced first minutes, Würzburg quickly pulled away, especially Zachary Seljaas, who was also the top scorer of the game with 24 points, presented the lions of problems. The lead grew to a comfortable level until the break, also because Braunschweig did not hit the basket from a distance. Only the tenth trial attempt found his goal.

Braunschweig impressively fought back after the break. The lions scored more points in the third quarter than in the entire first half, and also benefited from the increasingly error -prone game of the Würzburgers. The lions were even close to the victory and thus the progress, two seconds before the final siren, Hannes Steinbach Würzburg saved with a threesome into the overtime – in which the guests clearly pulled away and secured the victory.
