The body and mind of the Lappeenranta runner were shaken.
Alisa Vainio went through tough months. Pasi Liesimaa
Runner Alisa Vainio27, says in his update that winter and spring went in the dark.
Vainio says the problems started when he returned from Portugal last November.
– Since then, every morning has been difficult. My body feels heavy, strange and unidentified. The last seven months have been incredibly tough, writes in English at the Lappeenranta Sports Men’s Athlete.
Received support and help
Vainio says he was trying to push unusual feelings and thoughts in his mind until he found it a wrong way.
The signs given by the body and the mind had to be encountered, even though they were uncomfortable.
– I have felt abandoned, lonely and frustrated. But I haven’t been completely alone. I have had the Asics team and friends next to me. Their support has reminded me that power is not just about tolerance. It’s also about listening to your body and mind.
Vainio says he has received the help needed for his problems, but does not open it up.
– I’m not there yet, but I’m on my way. And when I come back to the starting line, I make it clearer, joy and deeper connection to why I started this trip originally.
Last summer’s Rome Championships Half Marathon Vainio finished 27th in 1.11.50. Former teen star in the Paris Olympics tried for a marathon, but the ranking points were not enough.
Vainio also tried a distance of 5,000 meters last summer.
