David Alaba has been running for Real Madrid for four years. But new coach Xabi Alonso apparently has no use for him.
For a few days now, Xabi Alonso has also been officially the new Real Madrid coach and is now starting to rebuild the club after an unsuccessful season. According to a report by the “Sport Bild”, he focused on the defensive. Some defenders are supposed to leave the club: Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcìa, including: ex-Bayern star David Alaba. According to the report, the 32-year-old can even leave the club free of charge, even though he still has a contract until 2026.
Alaba moved from FC Bayern to Madrid in 2021. Finally, however, he was hardly available to the “royal”. In December 2023, he contracted a cruciate ligament tear, from which he only returned in January of this year. After only one month, however, he failed again with an adductor injury and is currently missing since April due to a meniscal tear.
The defense departures from Trent Alexander-Arnold, who comes from Liverpool free of charge, and Dean Huijsen, are to be replaced for the real 60 million euros in Bournemouth. According to reports, Álavaro Carreras from Benfica Lisbon should also be hired.
This should probably lead to a triangle deal. According to “Sport Bild”, Carreras, who switched from the real youth to Manchester United at the age of 17 and then moved on to Benfica, is to be brought back by the “Red Devils” thanks to a buyback clause of 18 million euros. Then United will resell the player to Real for around twice the amount.
In order to generate further income, according to the report, Aurélien Tchouaméni (market value 80 million euros) and striker Rodrygo are also on the sales list. Of the striker, who is supposed to be dissatisfied due to low deployment times, those responsible for the real people even hope for a transfer fee of 100 million euros. Only in the case of successful sales should the “Sport Bild” be considered offensive newcomers, including Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.
