At the Common Court of Justice, IL (ITSE) Gerrits is appointed as a new member. The Rijksministerraad has agreed to the nomination for appointment on the proposal of State Secretary Struycken (legal protection). He will be appointed as of August 15, 2025 with Aruba as the location.
Mr. Gerrits will be part of the Criminal Law section. He is currently a judge at the Central Netherlands court. There he is also part of the Criminal Law section. He previously worked as a lawyer.
The Common Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba provides the judiciary on the islands. The judges at the Common Court of Justice deal with civil matters, criminal cases and administrative matters (including tax matters), both at first instance and on appeal. The Common Court is also involved in Special Judiciary Colleges (such as for civil servants) and in lectures in charge of disciplinary law. The Court consists of judges in local service and sent judges.
