The daycare of Ukrainians in the former craft school in Emmen will take place for another year. In the first instance, the daycare would run until the end of this year, but that was extended to the end of 2026. That also means that the large -scale metamorphosis of the building and the area around it will take a little longer.
The municipality has not yet succeeded in finding an alternative for the maximum four hundred reception places in the former craft school. There is also no clarity about the continuation of the scheme that Ukrainians temporarily entitles Okrainians to reception, medical care and education in the Netherlands.
That scheme will expire next year on March 4, but it is not yet known what happens next. Moreover, the municipal care for Ukrainians is full of packed, because it has been almost completely occupied for months.
The plans for the restoration of the building and the construction of three apartment complexes are further elaborated by developer Brands Bouw development. The intention is that the recovery and construction plans will be started immediately after the reception.
