In Spain the change of regulation on the rigidity of the wing that could change the balance between the teams. In the next GP, Maranello will introduce various news that should bring a consistent performance increase

Charles Leclerc’s second place in Munich was a positive viaticum with a view to the next race in Spain at Montmelò on the weekend of June 1st. The race on the Circuit de Catalunya will in fact see the introduction of the new flexibility limits for the elements of the front wing which are perceived by many as a possible game changer At the level of aerodynamic performance of the cars, while others consider marginal the impact they will have on the current performance ranking. Certainly the greatest consistency shown by the SF-25 in the Imola race, and in the entire Monegasque weekend, can be considered a starting point from which to start again, with confidence.

Ferrari wing stiffness

Ferrari therefore decided not to introduce any further development on the SF-25 in Spain, focusing on the evaluation of the new front wing on the track to collect relevant data on the effects induced to the management of flows that lap the car. In fact, it is difficult to quantify whether the reduced flexibility of the elements of the anterior wing will lead to a loss of performance, specifically in fast and rectilinear curves, but certainly the aerodynamic setups of the cars are intended to undergo some adjustments, reducing the incidence of the flaps to compensate the greater resistance provided by them in straight following the lesser flexion permitted.

Ferrari Fund

That said, the development plan of the SF-25 provides for the introduction of a new car background that could be anticipated to the Canada GP, to increase the load with the car body. In fact, there is no doubt that it has emerged that the SF-25 is lacking in this respect, but above all requires a different distribution of the load generated by the bottom. Quantifying the increase in performance is obviously an arduous undertaking, but this change could probably allow an improvement of about a tenth of a second to the tour. It is obviously an estimate that varies on the track on track, but it would constitute a not negligible piece for a progressive approach of Ferrari to leaders in the standings.

Rear suspension 2025 Ferrari evolution

New Ferrari suspensions

The last step concerns the introduction of a modification to the rear suspension which, keeping the scheme Pull Rod Originally, it will be modified at the level of geometry, intervening on the upper triangle, causing a different inclination of the arms. This should guarantee a more marked anti -spreading prerogative to the retrutre, but above all, produce greater mechanical grip, currently in strong deficit. This change, as mentioned, could be introduced in Austria, although there are rumors that its introduction would be postponed by a week to Silverstone. As easily intuitive, it is specifically a change that has the intention of eliminating or at least effectively contrast the “weakness” of the Retrotreno of the SF-25, a source of an evident unpredictability of behavior in fast curves, but also of poor traction in the slow. As in the case of the car fund, quantifying the advantage that this development could be able to provide is extremely arduous, as this change determines, at least in the intentions, an overall improvement in the dynamic of the car. To hypothesize an improvement on medium fast tracks of about a tenth and a half could be realistic and not an too optimistic projection.
