The 1. FC Heidenheim fought for a third year of the Bundesliga. For Frank Schmidt it was an exhausting year.

The 1. FC Heidenheim literally secured the relegation in the last second. In the second leg of the relegation against SV Elversberg, Leo Scienza scored in the 95th minute to the 2-1 final score-a hit that gave the club for another year.

Afterwards the cheers knew no boundaries: coach Frank Schmidt danced in front of the fan curve, the players posed for the souvenir photo. “Schaffa, Schaffa, Drenna Bleiba” – the message was clear.

“There is a lot of load off,” said Schmidt in the Sky interview and was completely finished. “Of course you try to radiate looseness, but the tension was immense. I am mega -poll on the team and the club – and I have probably forgotten many others.”

However, it was hardly enough for great party moods. Schmidt explained: “I am a mouse kaputt, I can no longer.” He didn’t want to go to the phone anymore. “At some point I will come back with full energy.”

Leo Scienza became a match winner – despite cramps. The Brazilian, who got space in the penalty area with a hook and placed the ball placed in the goal, reported after the game: “I had cramps for 15 minutes” while holding a beer bottle in his hand. Only the temperature bothered a little: “Unfortunately, it’s a bit warm.”

Schmidt expressly emphasized Scienza after the game. The attacker did not always have it easy, it “sometimes rumbled in between”. But Scienza accepted the criticism, said the coach, and spoke of an “incredibly awesome conclusion”.

Schmidt himself could hardly believe that it was enough in the end. “We actually only had two reasonable attacks in the second half – and then used it at the best possible time,” said the trainer. And indeed: Scienza was rewarded – and the club.
