The negotiations between Werder Bremen and Ole Werner have failed: the 37-year-old does not extend his expiring contract.

Ole Werner will not extend his contract as a coach of Werder Bremen in June 2026. The Bundesliga club announced this after failed negotiations. Werner has been training the Bremen since 2021.

Clemens Fritz, Managing Director of Football at Werder Bremen, said: “We very much regret this decision because we were able to imagine long -term cooperation with Ole very well.” The situation will now be analyzed and decided what the best solution for Werder is. For this, the association wants to take the “necessary time”.

Possible interested parties could use an exit clause this summer and Ole Werner bought out of this contract prematurely for a fixed transfer fee.

Since taking office on November 28, 2021, Ole Werner Werder Bremen initially led to promotion to the Bundesliga and stabilized the club there. In the recently expired season, the green-whites narrowly missed the European Cup as the eighth.
