Uefa President Aleksander Čeferer has made mysterious hints about possible new competitions in international football. The Slovenian praised the advantages of the Nations League and the reform of the club European Europeans, he also told the “kicker”: “We also think about other ideas, but it is still too early to reveal them. There will be no more games, it is absolutely clear. It will be something that makes it even more interesting.”
Čefer did not give any specific information about the possible new competition. When asked whether it could be a new variant of the penalty shootout, the 57-year-old only replied: “Much more interesting.” Talking about a format that has not yet started is hardly possible at the moment. But it is certain that big clubs in particular had wanted the competition.
Čefer left open whether the FIFA is involved in the considerations. The conflict with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who recently caused a sensation at the Congress in Paraguay, no longer plays a role for him. “We agree in 99 percent of cases, but one percent is interesting for the media and the public,” said Čeferin.
Čefin expects Infantino to be present at the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in Munich on Saturday. “Of course he is always invited and I am sure that he will come,” said Čeferin. After the FIFA congress, they talked to each other. “This is the business.”
Infantino had only appeared several hours after the beginning at the meeting in Asuncion – an appearance that had triggered resentment in many delegates.
