Last week, Tom Gentzsch celebrated his fourth tournament victory on the ITF tour at the M15 tournament in Bastad in Swedish. Almost a week later, the German tennis talent looks at an impressive winning streak – the next success is within reach.

With a 7: 6 and 6: 4 about the Irish Michael Agwi (number 637 of the world rankings), Tom Gentzsch (number 466 of the world rankings) booked the next final ticket of his career on Saturday. In Finnish Kotka (M15), only local hero Eero Vasa (number 549 of the world rankings) can prevent another triumph of the top seed Germans.

The 21-year-old Gentzsch now looks at nine victories in a series. Eight -winning mud in a row was previously the record of the right -hander.

Even more impressive: Gentzsch did not give up a single sentence during his new super series. Especially on his serve, the DTB talent was mostly able to rely on. Also against Agwi, Gentzsch only had to accept a single break, in the second round the Iris could not even work out a chance to shut down the service.

Two more DTB talents take the tournament victories

Should Gentzsch celebrate the next victory on Sunday and thus also bag the tournament success in Kotka, he would be close to his previous top position, 423, in the world rankings.

For a larger leap, however, he would have to score points even at higher categories, this has not yet been achieved. All tournament victories have won Gentzsch at M15 events so far.

Incidentally, the DTB may hope for further success this week: At the M15 tournament in Kursumlijska Banja (Serbia), 21-year-old Alen Mujakic (number 1357 of the world rankings) is surprisingly in the final. Marie Vogt (number 600 of the world rankings) applies to the title at the W15 event in Zaghkadsor (Armenia).
