Next milestone for Novak Djoković. Before the beginning of the French Open, there was every reason to celebrate.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djoković won his historic 100th tournament victory shortly before the French Open began. The 38-year-old prevailed on Saturday in the final of the ATP event in Geneva 5: 7, 7: 6 (7: 2), 7: 6 (7: 2) against the Poland Hubert Hurkacz and refueled so important self-confidence from the second Grand Slam of the Year.

In the final, Djoković fought a duel at eye level with Hurkacz. The Serb, currently number six in the world, had to accept the first break in the last game of the first set. Even in the decisive third set, he was initially behind, but fought back and also took the surcharge from the strong impact from Poland.

After Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103), Novak Djoković is now the third player in the history of the Open ERA with 100 tournament victories. For the long-time world ranking list, it was the first success since winning the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, previously the Grand Slam record champion in Shanghai and Miami had lost the respective endgames.

After a disappointing sandplace season, Djoković had accepted a wildcard in Switzerland to get shape in front of the French Open, which started on Sunday. At the Grand Slam Highlight in Paris, the Serb will meet Mackenzie McDonald (USA) in the first round next week.
