Relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga: Braunschweig points to Saarbrücken

Eintracht Braunschweig came closer to the whereabouts in the 2nd Bundesliga – and always had Saarbrücken under control in the relegation first leg.

The second division-third-last Braunschweig won 2-0 (0-0) on Friday evening at the third division third 1. FC Saarbrücken and has a clear advantage in the second leg. In an initially balanced game, the strong Lino Tempelmann (49th) and Marvin Rittmüller (61st) came out the victory deserved at the end.

“The way it went, it is relatively optimal”, Braunschweig’s interim coach Marc Pfitzner said the sports show. “But nothing has been done yet, it’s a part.” The second part follows on Tuesday, when Eintracht has the chance in the second leg (8.30 p.m.) to keep the 2nd Bundesliga short in front of a home crowd for the third time in a row. The 15,000 spectators saw a fairly boring first half in the sold -out Ludwig Spark Stadium. In the absence of a better highlight, a false shot from Saarbrücken’s goalkeeper Kai Brünker (16th) and a flat cross from Braunschweig Robin Krauße mentioned – Captain Ermin Bicakcic narrowly missed (42.).

“We tried to just keep our game and come into play through second balls”, So Braunschweig’s Tempelmann. “We succeeded even better in the second half.”

Tempelmann uses rebound

After the break it went quickly: at a counterattack Braunschweig Christian Conteh circled the ball with the outside of the outside of Philippe. Saarbrücken made too many mistakes in his attempts to attack and now has to hope for a little miracle in the second leg on Tuesday. Trainer Schwartz remained optimistic: “We have half -time now, it is 0: 2 and everything has already been shot. The team has already shown a different face and we have nothing to lose now.“
