Unique and inimitable, he impressed the photographic sign. A strong and decided language in every image, or rather, in each series. Because each image is part of a universe that the artist chooses and investigates and therefore becomes a series, story. The single image cannot live alone, as a speech cannot exist only with a word.

The poet of photography

Now, in fact, two complementary exhibitions, edited by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Katiuscia Biondi Giacomelli, the granddaughter, take place together in Rome, “Mario Giacomelli. The photographer and the artist” to Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Milan, Mario Giacomelli. The photographer and the poet “at Palazzo Reale, giving life to a new and happy synergy between the two different capital and the two cultural institutions, to celebrate this undisputed master. In both, his dark chamber was reproduced, for the lovers an immersion in the intimacy of daily practice, in that craftsmanship of analog photography that evokes the smell of acids, the enchantment of the darkness in which the magic of the apparition of the image takes place. A moving nostalgia that pervades the exposure rooms while the titles of the works flow, To Silvia, The infinite, Spoon River, will come death and will have your eyesjust to name a few.

On display in Milan 300 works organized with precious care to understand the chapters of his research. A simple and clear exhibition so that everyone can know and understand it and discover its passions and obsessions.
