Tottenham was able to look forward to a title again on Wednesday evening after 17 years. However, there was no medal for every player.

Unusual scenes after the Europa League final: Medals were suddenly missing at the award ceremony-for some players from Tottenham Hotspur. According to UEFA, the reason for the mishap was an unexpected deviation in the number of participating team members.

After the 1-0 final victory against Manchester United, the Spurs were there for the first time in 17 years with a title. But not everything went smoothly when the medal was handed over: Among other things, Captain Heung-Min Son, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero initially went empty.

As the European Association explained, more people had participated in the ceremony than originally planned – including injured professionals. According to UEFA, the missing medals were later submitted in the cabin. They apologized for the incident.
