Sarah Siekkinen from Helsinki does not understand why hair can even be sold for hair -damaging.

According to the hairdresser, the whitening spray left in the hair may be harmful. Sarah Siekkinen

Hairdresser Sarah Siekkinen warns of hair -leaving whitening sprays containing hydrogen peroxide.

– By no means do I recommend. It’s terrible that these are even sold, he says.

He himself collided with the John Frieda brand whitening spray in the Normal chain. The same spray is also sold at Kicks and Ellos online stores.

Other brands also sell similar whitening hair sprays. For example, Schwarzkopf’s Blonde S1 Blondspray is widely available from different grocery stores.

According to Siekkinen, the spray left on the hair is the problem that it contains hydrogen peroxide, even if the amount is small. Hydrogen peroxide is a familiar ingredient in hair whitening products and is allowed in home products, but according to Siekkinen, products containing hydrogen peroxide should always be washed away. Otherwise, the hair may be damaged.

– I know one case where the customer’s normal hair was striped. The hair remained in the sink, and the cause was the lightening hair spray.

According to Siekkinen, the whitening spray containing hydrogen peroxide damage the structure of the hair and may not be noticed immediately. Problems can occur when the hair is handled.

– You don’t have to go to the hairdresser to lighten your hair, but straightening your hair at home opens the structure of the hair so that their combined effect can break the hair.

Hairdressers in horror

Bleating hair sprays have been on sale for a long time, and according to Siekkinen, they have spoken a lot of hairdressers. There have been dozens of starts in the industry’s Facebook group about how lightening the spray has ruined the customer’s hair.

Products are marketed for use in the sun, which emphasizes the whitening effect of the sun. Many people need lighter hair just at the dawn of summer. The product that looks harmless can easily go according to the consumer, Siekkinen thinks.

– However, there is so little effective ingredient in the product that it is unlikely to get even a lighter result. Instead, structure damage may be left in the hair for years.

If you have sometimes been used for hair -leaving the hair, Siekkinen hopes to tell the hairdresser. Last summer, he was missed at the hairdressing salon, as the customer’s hair had completely dried due to the use of a bleaching spray.

What about the product if it is washed off like a hair color?

According to Siekkinen, not. According to him, the use of bleach spray is particularly harmful if the hair is then exposed to the sun or to the heat equipment as they boost the bleach. After that, the hair washing no longer helps.

Iltalehti tried to reach a representative of John Frieda or Finnish Normal to comment on the hair whitening spray, but did not receive any answer from either.

John Friedan on the website The product is instructed to spray clean, towel -dry hair. After that, the hair should be applied to the hair, drying it and preferably straightening or curling. The product should only be added to the scalp hair.
