DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and his Vice Hans-Joachim Watzke get new tasks and more influence from the UEFA.

Neuendorf was appointed a member of the four-member financial commission on Wednesday (May 21, 2025) by the Executive Committee of the European Football Union. In future, Watzke will be deputy chairman of the Commission for Club competitions. This became known after a meeting of the UEFA Exko in Bilbao.

In the Basque city, the final of the Europa League between the two English clubs will be Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United held.

The financial commission is responsible for financial administration and control within the UEFA. Their main tasks include financial reporting to the Executive Committee and the Congress as well as the promotion of financial transparency and Good governance within the UEFA.

The Commission for Club competitions is responsible for their organization and further development. Their main tasks consist in the regulation of the competitive formats, such as the design of the European Cup or the development of strategies for marketing.

In office since 2023

DFB boss Neuendorf has been a UEFA representative to the FIFA Council since 2023. Watzke is Vice President of UEFA and has been a member of their executive committee since 2023. In addition, the managing director of Borussia Dortmund at the DFB is the 1st Vice President and the spokesman for the Presidium of the DFL EV and DFL GmbH.
