Club idol Felix Magath wanted to return to Hamburger SV as president. But the advisory board of the Bundesliga promoted has thwarted the project of the former national soccer player and European Cup hero of the HSV.
In the list published by the Honorary Council of Hamburger SV on Tuesday there are three candidates for the EV president election in Kai Esselsgroth, Henrik Köncke and Frank Ockens. While the Honorary Council is only informed, the examination of the candidate applications is the responsibility of the traditional advisory board of the traditional club, in which Esselsgroth is a member.
The new EV president will be elected at the general meeting of the traditional association on June 21. The still president and former Bundesliga professional Marcell Jansen had announced a few weeks ago not to start again.
Golz and Ludwig Vice President candidates
Magath had brought Richard Golz to his team. While the club icon is now out, the former HSV goalkeeper was approved for the election of the Vice President. The beach volleyball Olympic champion of Rio, Laura Ludwig, and Anna Stöcken compete next to him. The candidates for the Treasurer Office (also Vice President) are Dr. Ralph Hartmann and Michael Papenfuß.
Magath has im Interview unpunished
According to NDR information, Magath – at least according to the Advisory Board – did not convince in his job interview what his future role and the tasks should be as an EV president. The committee criticized that the 71-year-old did not understand the statutes of the HSV correctly. First the “Hamburger Abendblatt” reported about it.
Magath had previously made no secret of the fact that he wanted to use the presidency at the HSV EV to intervene decisively to the football professional area-there are obviously disagreements here. The club legend should cause trouble in the HSV. Because the role of the advisory board is controversial. The members have been decided on a well-known presidential candidate.
Magath is one of the defining players of the HSV in its most successful time at the end of the 1970s and in the 1980s with three German championships and the winning of the European Championship in 1983. Later, the European champion was also a manager and coach of the association before he worked successfully at other clubs such as FC Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg and Schalke 04.
A year ago, the former soccer player wanted to be a sports director. Stefan Kuntz then awarded the contract, who celebrated his return to the Bundesliga after seven years of abstinence in his first season.
