The triple Olympic champion had been working on the project for several months with her management. Several skaters had already joined her team. “We were already busy in training and were looking forward to the coming season,” Schouten writes on Instagram.
Family in the first place
The decision to stop has to do with the health of her son Dirk. “I want to give all the attention I have at home and I am unable to commit myself to 100% to train and make the team’s ambitions come true,” she writes. What exactly is going on with her son, Schouten leaves in the middle.
De Noord-Hollandse says he regrets the decision. “Superfilling for anyone who believed in this fantastic project and put so much time: sponsors, technical staff, management and of course the skaters who went for it. Thanks for everyone’s confidence. For now I mainly try to find a team for the girls. They are top players!”
