In the Bakery on the Middenweg In Heerhugowaard broke a fire this afternoon around half past one. As a precaution, the house above and the surrounding buildings were evacuated. The fire brigade had the fire under control an hour later.
While the building is being investigated, the co-owner Ronald Zegers is busy talking to the insurer. He gets a glass of coke from a neighbor.
“Happy” during the day
“Our staff arrived when the power dropped out and the smoke came out of the ceiling. I happened to be in the neighborhood when I got the bell, luckily the fire brigade was quickly there,” he tells NH. “If it had happened in the evening, we would have lost everything. A large part of the building consists of wood.”
