Mark Bonnick worked for Arsenal for years. Then the discharge followed. He is now legally proceeding against this.

The top English club FC Arsenal is being sued – and that by a former employee. As the British newspaper “The Guardian” reports, former witness officer Mark Bonnick is legally advanced against his old employer. He had worked for FC Arsenal since the beginning of the 2000s, but was released in December 2024. Bonnick described the process as “discriminatory”.

The background to his dismissal among the “Gunners” had been some contributions on social media. There he had critically commented on Israel in terms of the Gaza War. Bonnick now explained that his posts were not anti -Semitic. Rather, they are motivated by legitimate, anti -Zionist beliefs. The club apparently saw it differently.

He initiated the legal steps to restore his reputation, said Bonnick “The Guardian”. This was damaged by allegations of anti-Semitism. According to Bonnick’s lawsuit, however, he was not accused of anti -Semitism by Arsenal. After the club had examined his contributions, an Arsenal representative informed him that he had “damaged the club’s reputation”. This would violate his employment contract. Bonnick was also accused of a “lack of judgment”. The relationship of trust between him and the association, his fans and employees was irreparably damaged, it said. The reason for discharge.

Bonnick calls for the “Guardian” report for compensation and re-hiring. “I want you to recognize that what you have done to me is wrong and that you shouldn’t have released me,” he said. He believes that he is right for the right thing, especially in the event of injustice. “And I decidedly reject Israel’s procedure in Gaza,” he said.

Bonnick emphasized that he had expressed himself on Portal X on various topics. This would include football, Brexit, racism, stabbing and politics. “It only became a problem when I tweeted about Israel, which led to a wave of online comments and that people contacted the club,” he said. The association then bowed to the pressure from the Internet. Bonnick said that he was destroyed by the way the club threw it out.

Franck Gastzen, Bonnick’s lawyer, said that his client rightly had his voice against “the open racist violence of Israel and the colonial ideology that justifies it”. “Arsenal FC has released him in unfair and discriminatory ways,” said Gastz. The club should admit its mistake and set Bonnick again.

Mark Bonnick’s lawsuit is expected to be negotiated in the coming year.
