Ed Sheeran shared a sneak peek on Instagram of his new collaboration with John Mayer and Dave Grohl. The song entitled “Drive” is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming “F1” film, which is to be released together with the associated album at the end of June.
“F1 the album”: a star -occupied soundtrack
On Instagram, the official “F1” channel published a short section of the guitar-heavy track. Ed Sheeran later reposted the video with the words: “Small foretaste of the song that I made for the F1 film. Mayer on the guitar, Grohl on drums. It was really fun to make it-appears together with the film.
“Drive” is part of the official soundtrack “F1: The Album”, which is due to be released on June 27th. The album comprises a total of twelve tracks with a top-class line-up from the music world. The first two singles have already been published: “Lose Your Mind” by Don Toliver feat. Doja Cat appeared at the end of April, followed by “Messy” by Rose in early May. Other participants on the album include Burna Boy, Tate McRae, Raye, Dom Dolla, Madison Beer, Sexyy Redd and many more.
The film itself comes to German cinemas on June 26th. Directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”), the project was produced by Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton. The focus is on a former Formula 1 driver, played by Pitt, who will return to the race track after a long time to help his former teammate.

Ed Sheeran recently announced his new album “Play”, which is due to be released on September 12, 2025. With the songs “Azizam” and “Old Phone”, two singles have already been published. Ed Sheeran is currently on a large world tour with a total of 186 stops, which ends in Düsseldorf in September.
