Crazy protest action in the Premier League

An unusual protest temporarily paralyzed the game in the Premier League game between Everton and Newcastle United.

In the 49th minute, a young man stormed onto the pitch and chained himself to a goalpost. It was initially unclear how he managed to do this so quickly.

He was wearing a red shirt that said “Just Stop Oil.” When the security and rescue workers using heavy equipment finally managed to loosen the connection that tied the man’s neck to the post, the protester sank to the ground on the goal line and refused to let the green go leaving. Ultimately, he was rudely taken away.

Just as curious: the “SunAccording to two other stadium guests stormed the field during the action and tried to attack the activist.

Meanwhile, the Twitter account “Just Stop Oil” took responsibility for the action.

“Tonight is Louis, a 21-year-old supporter of ‘Just Stop Oil‘ stormed onto the pitch during the Everton vs Newcastle United game and tied himself to the post,” reads the account. Louis is quoted in the episode. His motive is therefore to draw attention to the fact that the government no longer initiates new projects with fossil fuels.”The government is currently cheating” the country in this regard.

Everton FC celebrate important and extremely late victory

The football match at Liverpool’s Goodison Park continued with the score at 0-0. In the end, Everton won 1-0. Alex Iwobi scored the goal in the ninth (!) minute of stoppage time. The Toffees had been outnumbered since the 83rd minute. Allan had seen the red card.

The threesome is particularly valuable for Everton FC, as they were able to gain some air in the table basement. With 25 points, the men from Liverpool are now three points above the first relegation zone. However, with 27 games, Everton have also played two fewer than the majority of the teams ahead of them.

Newcastle United remain 14th in the rankings and with 31 points at least don’t have to worry about staying in the league. The Magpies have been the richest football team in the world since they were taken over by the Saudi state fund PIF during the course of the season. However, the planned purchase of absolute top stars should only succeed if you stay in the league.
