The basketball players of Alba Berlin have lived up to their favorite position in the play-ins. The Berliners secured an important home win against Weißenfels. Now the Ulm playoff quarter-finals are waiting.
Alba Berlin qualified in the basketball Bundesliga with a good performance for the playoffs. In the play-ins the Berliners beat the guests from Weißenfels with 81:78 (43:32). The team of coach Pedro Calles is in the playoff quarter-finals and meets Ulm.
After the main round, Alba Berlin was only seventh in the table and therefore had to take the detour through the play-ins. Ulm, on the other hand, finished second behind the basketball players from Munich. Alba Berlin could only meet Bayern in the final because of the tournament tree. If the Berliners also prevail against Ulm in the best-of-five series, the winner of the pairing between Braunschweig and Würzburg would wait.

Strong second quarter
Both teams started the game with a lot of intensity. Due to two three of the last strong Malte Delow, Alba took the lead early (6: 4). MBC shooting Guard Spencer Reaves also immediately replied with two three. The Berliners defended well, but allowed too often that the MBC secured the rebounds. A first quarter developed with many individual mistakes in which no team could really settle (21:19).
In the second quarter, the MBC got off to a better start. Michael Devoe brought the guests back into the lead with his second successful threesome. While not everything went perfectly at Alba, they were defensive more. Again and again the Weißenfelsers lacked the solutions in the attack.
In return, Gabriele Procida brought the Berliners into the lead with a threesome for the first time with six points and forced MBC coach Janis Gailitis to take a break (30:24). After that, Alba developed significantly more control over the game and took the lead with two free throws from Justin Bean almost half -time whistle for the first time with eleven points (43:32).

Berlin remains stable
The third quarter started with a little delay. There were discussions about Alba’s last free throw. At half-time, the referees decided that an MBC player touched the ball before the ball passed the basket. This counted the throw for two instead of one point. Alba did not let a short offensive thirst phase be disturbed, continued to work defensively and took nine points ahead with two important threes from Bean and DELOW.
In the final quarter, both teams kept showing nerves. The Alba players noted that they absolutely wanted to bring the lead over time. But the MBC could not be shaken off. In particular, DELOW, with 18 points of the best throwers at Alba, always found important answers to the scoring of the Weißenfelser for the Berliners. In the end, Alba brought a tight tour over time and celebrated the move into the playoffs.
