On May 13, 2000, care providers Fred Hetterscheid, Bert Bekhuis, Jaap Knotter and Klaas Wester walked through the smoking ruins in Enschede to help victims. Tuesday afternoon, exactly 25 years later, they unexpectedly met at the commemoration of the fireworks disaster, which largely threw the Roombeek district away and where 23 people were killed. “I found it difficult to come, but I think it’s fantastic to see my professional brothers again.”
