In the end, Alexander Zverev easily moved into the quarter -finals of the tennis tournament in Rome. The Hamburg struck the Frenchman Arthur Fils on Tuesday evening in two sets with 7: 6 (7: 3) and 6: 1.
Zverev started the match concentrated. Above all, his tactics to go into the balls early in order to leave the opponent as little time as possible to prepare for his impact, quickly gave him point gains. Before Arthur Fils kept it, it was 4: 1 for No. 2 in the world rankings.
Suddenly the rhythm is gone
In the seventh game of the first movement, there was suddenly difficulty. If it looked after a march at the beginning of the service game, Fils suddenly became stronger. A forehand Longline passed the German, who then applauded respectfully.
Fils subsequently equalized to 4: 4, Zverev reacted strongly and brought his next service to zero. And the entertainment factor of the game continued – because the Frenchman also brought his next service without loss of points.
Zverev remained focused, but also had to see how Fils not only did not allow any mistakes, but also had a game of the game and twice in a row the field still hit the field with long strokes. The eleventh game dragged on for more than ten minutes – and Zverev’s nerves, although Fils sometimes produced incredibly forehand rockets. In the twelfth game, the Frenchman ballerted a forehand with a whopping 168 km/h to win the point. But then Zverev clapped his fist in the Tiebreak when he made the point to 7: 3.
In the second movement it works very quickly
Cover two then went significantly differently. Zverev only released one game and quickly had three match balls when it was serve. The first was already successful because the Frenchman was a forehand ball on the net. The native of Hamburg went to the net with relief and said goodbye to Arthur Fils.
Zverev reached the round of the last eight on the ATP tour for the 100th time in his career and meets local hero Lorenzo Musetti (No. 8).
