Berlin (dpa) – FC Barcelona is in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
Thanks to goals from Pedri (37th minute) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (49th), the Catalans prevailed 2-1 (2-1) in the round of 16 second leg at Galatasaray Istanbul after the first leg had ended goalless. Marcao put the record Turkish champions in front in the 37th minute.
Meanwhile, AS Monaco and former Bundesliga professionals Kevin Volland and Alexander Nübel were eliminated. After the 0:2 in the first leg, a 1:1 (0:1) against SC Braga was not enough for the Monegasques to advance.
Glasgow Rangers and Olympique Lyon also advanced to the next round. The Rangers lost 1:2 (0:1) at Red Star Belgrade, but had gained a good cushion with the 3:0 in the first leg. Lyon drew 1-1 (1-1) in the second leg against FC Porto, after the French club had won the first leg 1-0.
Also in the quarters are Bundesliga side RB Leipzig after opponents Spartak Moscow were ruled out of the competition over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
